DUSU Election 2026: ABVP Makes Strong Showing in Colleges, Results to Be Announced Today

New Delhi: Voting for Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) elections was completed on Friday. This time a total of 40.46 percent students used their franchise. Candidates from various student organizations, including ABVP, NSUI and AISA-SFI alliance are in the fray for the four central posts. Counting of votes has started from 8 am on Saturday morning in the Multipurpose Hall of the University Sports Stadium located in North Campus. With the results of the central panel, it will also be decided who will hold the posts of president, vice president, secretary, and joint secretary.

How was ABVP's performance in college elections?

Before the counting of votes by the Central Panel begins, the results of the student union elections of many colleges of Delhi University have been revealed. According to Aaj Tak, ABVP candidates won all the key posts in Aditi Mahavidyalaya, Sri Aurobindo College Morning and Shivaji College. In Bharati College, the organization won all eight posts, while in Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar College, all four posts went to its candidates.

In Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) also, ABVP candidates won all the contested posts. Candidates of the organization also won many important posts in Keshav Mahavidyalaya and Shyama Prasad Mukherjee College. After these results, now the eyes are on the four central posts of DUSU.

How many students voted for DUSU?

This time 52 polling stations were set up in DUSU elections. According to the data received from all the centres, the total voting was 40.46 percent. If compared with the figures of the last few years, the voting in 2024 was 35.20 percent and in 2025 it was 39.45 percent. There is a slight increase in it in 2026. However, in 2023, around 42 percent voting was recorded.

Voting was conducted in two shifts, morning and evening, so that students from different colleges could cast their votes according to their classes. Strict security arrangements were also made in the campus during the elections.

For which four posts the counting of votes is taking place?

There are four posts of president, vice president, secretary, and joint secretary in the central panel of DUSU. This time a total of 20 candidates are in the fray for these posts. ABVP's Yash Dabas, NSUI's Vijay Shankar Meena and AISA-SFI alliance's Ananya Raturi are among the prominent candidates for the post of president.

As the counting of votes begins, supporters of different candidates are waiting for the results. After the results at the college level, the activities of student organizations are also intensified regarding the elections of the central panel.

Why was security increased during counting of votes?

More than 2,000 police and paramilitary personnel have been deployed in the Delhi University campus in view of the counting of votes for the DUSU elections. Barricading has been done in the North Campus and movement around the counting center has been controlled.

Delhi High Court has also banned victory processions and rallies after the election results. The court has also issued notices to several candidates for violation of rules during the election process.

When can DUSU results be out?

Counting of votes has started at 8 am on Saturday. In view of the low turnout, the process is expected to be completed in a few hours, although the final time will depend on the speed and process of counting. At present, the results of the central panel are awaited and only after this will the picture of the new office bearers of DUSU be clear.
