New Delhi: Dwarka District Police have arrested a 47-year-old woman who had been declared a proclaimed offender by a court in connection with a decade-old case registered under the Delhi Excise Act. The Anti-Burglary Cell traced the woman to Mahavir Enclave in southwest Delhi and apprehended her following a tip-off.
The arrested woman has been identified as Kamlesh, wife of Rakesh, a resident of Mahavir Enclave in the Dabri area. Police said she had been evading court proceedings in a case registered in 2016.
According to Dwarka District Deputy Commissioner of Police Kushal Pal Singh, an FIR was registered against Kamlesh at Dabri Police Station in 2016 under Section 33 of the Delhi Excise Act. The case was registered under FIR No. 562/2016.
As she continued to remain absent from the judicial proceedings, the court declared her a proclaimed offender on December 10, 2025. The order was issued by the court of Judicial Magistrate First Class Harshail Negi, Court No. 2, at the South-West District Courts in Dwarka.
DCP Kushal Pal Singh said a special drive was underway to trace proclaimed offenders and take action against individuals allegedly involved in the illegal liquor trade.
During the operation, police received confidential information indicating that Kamlesh was staying in Mahavir Enclave. Acting on the tip-off, the Anti-Burglary Cell team reached the location, laid a trap and arrested her from her residence.
Dabri Police Station subsequently carried out the arrest in accordance with the applicable legal procedures.
The operation was carried out under the leadership of Inspector Basant Kumar and included Head Constables Parveen Kumar and Krishna, along with Woman Head Constable Sonia.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (Operations) Subhash Malik supervised the operation. Police further stated that three previous cases related to the Delhi Excise Act had also been registered against the arrested woman.
The arrest forms part of the district police's ongoing efforts to trace individuals wanted in pending cases and strengthen enforcement against illegal liquor-related activities.
