New Delhi: A fire broke out at a house in Ram Gali, Vishwas Nagar, in Delhi’s Shahdara district on Thursday evening, triggering panic in the neighbourhood. Flames spread to decorative materials stored on the first floor of the building, prompting a response from the fire department.

Two fire engines from the CBD fire station reached the spot after receiving information about the incident and brought the blaze under control in around 10 minutes. No casualties were reported.

Could a Temple Flame Have Triggered the Fire?

According to fire official Sunder Singh, the department received a call about the fire at approximately 5:55 pm on Thursday. The blaze occurred in a house measuring around 35 to 40 square yards, where decorative items were stored in a first-floor room.

The materials included artificial flowers, disposable leaf bowls and decorative articles made of plastic and cloth. These items were used to decorate large entrances and other spaces. A temple was also located inside the same room.

Singh said a burning flame at the temple could have been the source of the fire. However, the exact cause has not been officially confirmed.

Firefighters Prevented the Blaze From Spreading Further

The presence of combustible decorative materials raised the risk of the flames spreading quickly. However, firefighters responded promptly and managed to contain the fire before it could cause further damage.

After extinguishing the blaze, the team removed items from the affected room and continued cooling operations to reduce the possibility of the fire reigniting. The operation was concluded after firefighters ensured that the situation was under control, and the control room was informed accordingly.
