New Delhi: The government has taken several important steps in the direction of making health services in the capital, Delhi, stronger, more modern and people-centric. Many important initiatives related to the health sector were launched in the presence of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Health Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar in the programme organised under 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyan' at Tyagraj Stadium.
The objective of these schemes is to connect the health system with technology as well as to provide better and more transparent health facilities to the common citizens. During the programme, the government announced a major increase in the honourarium of Asha workers, who are considered the most important link in the health system. Now the monthly honourarium given to Asha workers has been increased from Rs 3 thousand to Rs 6 thousand. This decision of the government is being considered an important step towards strengthening health services at the grassroots level.
Asha workers are that link in the health system, who work directly at every home to connect people with health related information and services. From taking care of pregnant women and newborn children to taking various health campaigns to the grassroots level, they play an important role. By doubling the honorarium, along with providing financial relief to these women health workers, a message has been given that their contribution will also be respected.
Project Anmol was also launched in the programme. Under this, advanced level health checkup and screening of newborn babies will be promoted. Its objective is to identify potential health problems in newborn babies in time and take early steps towards treatment if needed. The government's emphasis is on making health services more effective through the use of technology so that diseases can be identified at an early stage and children can get better health facilities.
A dedicated SOTTO center was also launched at GB Pant Hospital during the programme. Through this initiative, work will be done to make the system related to organ donation and transplantation more systematic and effective. The role of such centers is considered important for transparency in arrangements related to organ donation, better coordination and providing assistance to needy patients.
Nursing Home Management Portal was also launched to increase transparency in the health sector. Through this, efforts will be made to make the management and necessary processes related to nursing homes more systematic and transparent through technology. The government believes that the digital system will improve monitoring of work in the health sector and increase transparency in related processes.
The government's focus behind these initiatives launched under the 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyan' is to create a better synergy between technology, strong public health system and sensitive care. These initiatives are being considered important towards modernising health services in Delhi in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of an inclusive and developed India. Now the challenge will be to effectively deliver these schemes from paper to ground. If these are implemented in a prescribed manner, then changes can be seen in many important areas of the health system, from newborn health screening to organ transplantation and nursing home management.
