New Delhi: A warning for rain, strong winds, and lightning has been issued for North India—including Delhi, Punjab, and Haryana—for the next five days. Hailstorms are also expected in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh on May 11 and 12, and in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on May 12 and 13. However, heatwaves are likely to occur in isolated pockets of West Rajasthan and Gujarat between May 10 and 14, in East Rajasthan between May 10 and 13, and in West Madhya Pradesh between May 12 and 14. Heavy rainfall is forecast for Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal over the next seven days. Meanwhile, a low-pressure area is expected to form over the Southwest Bay of Bengal within the next 48 hours.
Regarding North India, moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds is likely in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi between May 10 and 14. Rain is expected in West Uttar Pradesh on May 12 and 13, in East UP on May 13 and 14, and in Rajasthan on May 11 and 12. Between May 10 and 13, Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh are likely to experience rainfall and snowfall ranging from isolated to fairly widespread and moderate intensity. Additionally, isolated thunderstorms and strong winds are also possible. Rain is expected in Himachal Pradesh between May 11 and 15, and in Uttarakhand between May 11 and 14.
For Northeast India, the Meteorological Department has issued an alert for isolated to moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds in Assam and Meghalaya between May 12 and 14. Isolated rainfall is possible in Tripura on May 10; in Arunachal Pradesh on May 12 and 13; in Meghalaya on May 10 and 11; in Assam and Meghalaya between May 13 and 16; and in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura on May 15 and 16. Furthermore, in South India, scattered to widespread rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms is expected in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal on May 10 and 11; and in Kerala, Mahe, Interior Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Yanam from May 10 to 14. Rain and lightning are also likely in Rayalaseema on May 10–12 and 14; in Telangana and Lakshadweep on May 10 and 11; and in Tamil Nadu and Karaikal from May 12 to 14.
