Delhi Traffic Alert: Diversions on ITO and Several Roads Ahead of India vs Afghanistan Match

New Delhi: A T20 match will be played between India and Afghanistan at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday amid the BRICS conference in New Delhi. A large number of spectators are likely to arrive for the match. In view of this, Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory advising people to avoid going to the affected areas and plan their journey before leaving home.

Will traffic restrictions be implemented from 2 pm?

According to the traffic police, arrangements related to traffic control, diversion and parking will be in force in the stadium and surrounding areas from 2 pm on September 13. During the match, vehicular movement on many major roads of Central Delhi may be affected. Police have appealed to the people to pass through these routes only when there is urgent work.

In which areas traffic pressure may increase?

Traffic pressure is likely to increase at ITO, Rajghat, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Delhi Gate, DDU Marg and Asaf Ali Road. Due to the BRICS conference, security and traffic arrangements are already tight in New Delhi. In such a situation, if the crowd increases in these areas due to the cricket match, it may take extra time for the drivers.

What is the traffic police's advice to the spectators?

Spectators going to watch the match have been asked to use only designated entry, parking and designated pickup and drop points for app-based taxis. The traffic police have advised people to use public transport as much as possible instead of private vehicles. Also, people have been asked to follow the instructions of the policemen deployed on the way.

Where will there be parking for the stadium?

Parking arrangements have been made for the vehicles of spectators on Mata Sundari Road, Rajghat Power House Road and Velodrome Road. Police have made it clear that vehicles should be parked at designated parking spots only. Action can be taken against restricted or wrong roadside parking.

From which gates will you be able to enter the stadium?

Separate gates have been earmarked for entry of spectators into the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Entry from gate number 1 to 8 will be from Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg. Entry will be given from Gate No 10 to 15 from Jawahar Lal Nehru Marg. Gate numbers 16 to 18 are located near the petrol pump on Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg.
