New Delhi: Intelligence agencies have reported that terrorists may be planning to target the Delhi BJP headquarters, located on DDU Marg, as well as nearby government offices. In light of this information, an alert has been issued. Security at the BJP office has been significantly tightened. Upon receiving the alert, security agencies immediately went on high alert. Personnel from paramilitary forces have been deployed alongside the Delhi Police.
Intelligence inputs suggest that terrorist organizations may target the Delhi BJP office and other government institutions. Potential plots could involve the use of suicide bombers, car bombs, armed shootouts, or the planting of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). Given the potential threat, a heavy police force has been deployed across the entire area to ensure that any emergency situation can be dealt with immediately.
It is worth noting that the national capital has been a target for terrorists in the past as well. On December 13, 2001, terrorists attacked the Parliament House—the greatest symbol of democracy in the country. Armed with explosives and automatic weapons, the terrorists stormed the Parliament complex. The attack claimed the lives of several people, including security personnel; however, security forces successfully neutralized all the terrorists.
Subsequently, in 2005—just prior to the festivals of Diwali and Eid—a series of blasts rocked Sarojini Nagar, Paharganj, and Govindpuri. These explosions resulted in numerous fatalities and injuries. Later, in 2011, a major blast occurred outside Gate No. 5 of the Delhi High Court. This attack took place in the morning, at a time when a large number of people were present at the court premises.
A year prior to that, in 2010, terrorists carried out a shooting near the Jama Masjid. Foreign nationals were among those injured in this attack. Meanwhile, in 2008, a series of blasts occurred in quick succession across various parts of Delhi, including Connaught Place, Karol Bagh, and Greater Kailash. These explosions claimed the lives of many people.
In addition to these incidents, a car explosion occurred near the Red Fort in Delhi on the evening of November 10 last year. When the blast took place, several other vehicles were in the vicinity and were caught in the impact zone. The explosion was so severe that several vehicles were damaged. Many people in the vicinity lost their lives.
