New Delhi: Delhi Police were seen in full alert mode in view of the demonstration of 'Cockroach Janata Party' at Jantar Mantar on Saturday. Police used drone cameras and face recognition systems to keep an eye on every movement of the protesters. Many contingents of CISF, RAF and paramilitary had converted the entire area from Jantar Mantar to the surrounding area into a cantonment.
There was three-layer security from Janpath metro station to the protest site. Police personnel were deployed at every nook and corner. Joint CP Deepak Purohit, Nupur Prasad and Aslam Khan were commanding the security. Many DCP level officers were given the responsibility of different sectors. CISF and RAF troops were also ready on the spot.
The atmosphere at Jantar Mantar echoed with slogans like 'Answer to Paper Leak, Long Live Cockroaches'. The youth protested fiercely against the irregularities in NEET-CUET and CBSE. The protesters also raised the demand for the resignation of the union education minister. Chief of 'Cockroach Janata Party' Abhijeet Deepke also participated in this protest. The youth said that their future is being spoilt due to repeated paper leaks.
It was claimed on social media that Delhi Police has registered an FIR against the protesters. But Delhi Police termed these reports as completely wrong and misleading. Police say that no such action has been taken. On Saturday, security agencies were on high alert from the airport to VVIP areas in the capital.
In view of the demonstration of 'Cockroach Janata Party', Delhi Police had made special preparations. The police had already made layer security arrangements to deal with any situation at Jantar Mantar. The entire area was being monitored through drones. Suspects were being identified through face recognition system.
The protesters were angry over the continuous paper leaks. There was anger among students after cases of irregularities came to light in NEET, CUET and CBSE examinations. The youth said that the government is not taking strict action on this. For this reason, youth under the banner of 'Cockroach Janata Party' gathered at Jantar Mantar and raised noise against the government.
At present the protest at Jantar Mantar remains peaceful. The protesters returned after keeping their views amid tight police security. But the issue of paper leak once again echoed on the streets of the capital.
