New Delhi: The Rohini District Police have launched a major crackdown on the illegal drug trade, busting an interstate heroin supply network spread from Delhi-NCR to Uttar Pradesh. The Special Staff team of Rohini District Police not only arrested four accused but also uncovered an alleged illegal heroin manufacturing unit operating in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
During the operation, police recovered 6.275 kg of freshly manufactured heroin, while a total of 7.076 kg of heroin was seized from the entire network. According to police, the estimated international market value of the seized heroin is around ₹50 crore.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of DCP Shashank Jaiswal by a team led by Inspector Sandeep Godara, Special Staff, Rohini. The entire operation was conducted under the supervision of ACP Operations Ajmer Singh.
Along with the heroin, police also recovered 2.504 kg of sodium, 787 grams of acetic anhydride, gas cylinders, tubs, a mixer grinder, utensils, polythene bags, an electronic weighing scale, wooden baskets and other equipment allegedly used in the manufacturing of heroin.
The investigation began on September 16, 2026, when the Rohini District Police Special Staff received credible information about the movement of narcotics in the Begumpur police station area.
Acting on the information, police laid a trap in Sector 32, Begumpur. During the operation, officers intercepted a Grand Vitara and arrested 58-year-old Laxman Hooda, a resident of Rohtak.
A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 300 grams of heroin and ₹3 lakh in cash. The vehicle was also seized. An FIR, numbered 433/26, was registered at Begumpur Police Station under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act.
During interrogation and further investigation, police obtained crucial leads about the supply chain through which heroin was being supplied across Delhi-NCR.
Following the next link in the network, police arrested alleged key supplier Anil alias Bhola from Sonipat on September 17. A total of 501 grams of heroin was recovered from his possession.
According to police, the accused is a resident of Raghubir Nagar, Delhi, and had previously been a parole jumper and proclaimed offender in an NDPS case. A Mahindra XUV700 was also seized from him.
During interrogation, police allegedly learned that the heroin supply was not limited to Delhi and that an alleged manufacturing unit in Uttar Pradesh, along with a larger supply network, was behind the operation.
Using technical surveillance and human intelligence, police continued efforts to trace the main source supplier. Finally, on October 4, the team raided an alleged heroin manufacturing facility in Sita Colony, Jankipuram, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
During the raid, police arrested 35-year-old Bablu, a resident of Bareilly. Officers recovered 6.275 kg of freshly manufactured heroin from the premises.
Police also recovered materials and equipment allegedly used in the manufacturing of heroin. These included 2.504 kg of sodium and 787 grams of acetic anhydride, along with tubs, gas cylinders, a mixer grinder, utensils, polythene bags, an electronic weighing machine, wooden baskets and other materials.
According to police, interrogation of Bablu subsequently led investigators to the alleged owner of the manufacturing unit and main source supplier, Rukhsar Ali alias Raju. A police team reportedly followed him for nearly 120 kilometres before arresting him in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh.
The investigation has revealed that the alleged interstate network extended from Delhi-NCR to Uttar Pradesh. The network reportedly involved not only the supply of heroin but also arrangements for its manufacture.
Police recovered commercial quantities of heroin at different stages of the operation and arrested key links in the alleged supply chain.
Investigators are now trying to determine who else was involved in the network, where the raw materials for manufacturing the narcotics were sourced, how the operation was financially funded and to whom heroin was being supplied across Delhi-NCR.
The four arrested accused have been identified as Laxman Hooda, Anil alias Bhola, Bablu and Rukhsar Ali alias Raju.
According to police, Anil alias Bhola was a parole jumper and proclaimed offender in an NDPS case. Bablu had previously been involved in an NDPS case, while Rukhsar Ali alias Raju had allegedly been involved in three previous NDPS cases.
In the operation, Rohini Police recovered a total of 7.076 kg of heroin, including 6.275 kg of freshly manufactured heroin. Police have estimated its international market value at around ₹50 crore.
In addition, ₹3 lakh in cash, 2.504 kg of sodium, 787 grams of acetic anhydride, manufacturing equipment and two SUVs were seized.
Rohini District DCP Shashank Jaiswal described the operation as a major achievement in the fight against drug trafficking. Police said the investigation is still underway, with further action being taken to identify other members of the network and trace its financial links.
