New Delhi: Delhi Police have raided an alleged large-scale gambling operation running inside a factory in the Jhilmil Industrial Area of East Delhi. The joint operation was conducted by the Special Staff of the North-East District Police and the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of Shahdara district.

The raid reportedly caused panic among those present at the premises. According to preliminary information, more than 25 people have been detained, while cash worth lakhs of rupees, allegedly used for gambling, is reported to have been recovered. Further details are awaited from the police.

Possible Links to Organised Crime Network

According to sources, police had received information about large-scale gambling and betting activities allegedly operating in the Jhilmil Industrial Area for an extended period.

Investigators are also examining possible links between the operation and Mumtaz, an alleged sharpshooter associated with the Chhenu gang. However, police have not officially confirmed these suspected connections so far.

Factory Premises Used for Gambling Activities

Acting on the intelligence input, a joint police team carried out a planned raid at the factory. The sudden arrival of officers reportedly triggered confusion among those present.

Sources said more than 25 people were taken into custody, including some individuals described as prominent businessmen. The exact amount of cash recovered and details of other seized items are yet to be officially disclosed.

Who Was Running the Operation and Who Was Behind It?

Police are questioning the detained individuals to establish who was managing the alleged gambling network and how money was being collected and transferred.

Investigators are also trying to identify the people who may have financed or facilitated the operation and determine whether any influential individuals were involved. Another key aspect of the probe is to establish whether the gambling business had connections with an organised criminal gang.

The investigation is ongoing following the joint raid, and further details are expected as police establish the full extent of the alleged operation.
