New Delhi: Passengers planning to travel by train during Diwali should check reservation office timings before visiting ticket counters. Northern Railway has announced changes to the operation of passenger reservation centres across the Delhi region on Sunday, November 8, on account of the festival. While some offices will provide limited services, several centres will close during the evening shift and six locations will remain shut throughout the day.

Partial Services at Three Reservation Offices

According to the railway notification, reservation offices at the IRCA Building, Delhi Junction, and Hazrat Nizamuddin will provide partial services during the evening shift until 6 pm.

Passengers have been advised to complete their reservation-related work in advance and plan their visits according to the revised schedule to avoid inconvenience.

Fifteen Centres to Close During the Evening Shift

Reservation counters at 15 locations will remain closed from 2 pm to 8 pm. These include Sarojini Nagar, Kirti Nagar, Shakur Basti, Delhi Shahdara, Ghaziabad, Karkardooma, Okhla, Noida, Tughlakabad, Sabzi Mandi, Adarsh Nagar, Lajpat Nagar, Rohini, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), and the International Tourist Bureau at the IRCA Building.

Services at these centres will continue as usual during the morning shift. Passengers needing assistance in the afternoon or evening should therefore complete their work during the available morning hours.

Which Reservation Offices Will Remain Closed All Day?

Six reservation centres will remain closed for the entire day on November 8. These are located at Parliament House, the Press Club of India, the Railway Board, the Supreme Court, the High Court and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU).

The closures form part of the special operating arrangements announced for Diwali and will affect passengers who normally use these reservation counters.

Passengers Advised to Plan Ahead

Northern Railway has urged travellers to keep the revised timings in mind while making their travel arrangements. Passengers are encouraged to visit the appropriate reservation centre during its operating hours to avoid last-minute difficulties during the festive period.
