New Delhi: The resolution of a major theft case in the capital reads like a movie plot. A family had placed their trust in a domestic help they had hired, but according to the police, that very trust was ultimately betrayed, resulting in a theft worth approximately Rs 35 lakh. Following the high-value burglary in Rana Pratap Bagh, the police pieced together clues to reach the alleged mastermind and successfully recovered the entire stolen haul.

North-West District DCP Akanksha Yadav stated that the Sangam Park Police Post team (under Bharat Nagar Police Station) arrested 30-year-old Jyoti, wife of Chandar Prakash and a resident of Baba Colony, Burari. According to the police, Jyoti had recently started working as a domestic help for the complainant's family, and her alleged involvement surfaced during the investigation. Gold and diamond jewelry, foreign currency, cash, and other stolen items worth approximately Rs 35 lakh were recovered from her possession and at her instance.

Incident occurred on September 29; Police launched an operation

According to the police, information regarding a high-value burglary in the Bharat Nagar Police Station area was received on September 29, 2026. Given the gravity of the matter, e-FIR No. 80082781 was registered, and an investigation was initiated under Sections 305 and 331(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The police faced a significant challenge due to the disappearance of valuable jewelry and other items. However, the Sangam Park Police Post team pursued the investigation in multiple directions. By correlating human intelligence, technical surveillance, and ground-level information, the police began monitoring the activities of the suspects. Investigation Leads to Domestic Help

As the investigation progressed, police attention turned to Jyoti, a domestic helper recently employed by the complainant's family. She was arrested after her alleged involvement came to light during the probe. Police claim to have obtained crucial leads regarding the concealment of the stolen goods during interrogation. According to the police, the stolen property had been hidden in the D-Su Colony area of ​​Rana Pratap Bagh. Subsequently, the team gathered information about Vinita, who also worked as a domestic helper in the area. Acting on vital information obtained during questioning, the police team located the stolen goods and recovered a significant quantity of items.

Foreign Currency Also Helped Unravel the Crime

The list of recovered items is equally striking. Police recovered a 70-gram gold chain, a 40-gram gold *kada* (bangle), a gold ring with a solitaire diamond, a pair of gold earrings, a gold chain with a pendant, and another chain. Additionally, 313 Singapore Dollars, 250 Malaysian Ringgits, 305 UAE Dirhams, and ₹4,000 in cash were seized. Police also found a pen drive, the stolen iron safe, several envelopes, and coins.

Police Pieced Together Clues

Throughout the case, the police relied on human intelligence and technical surveillance to track down the suspects. The investigation moved forward by correlating ground-level information with facts revealed during interrogation. Ultimately, the police identified and arrested the alleged mastermind and recovered the stolen property.

Key Role Played by Police Personnel

A dedicated team comprising Head Constables Ajay and Sunil, led by Sub-Inspector Rajesh Pilania (In-charge of PP Sangam Park), carried out this entire operation. The team was led by Inspector Ram Kishore, Station House Officer (SHO) of Bharat Nagar, while the entire operation was supervised by Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Akash Rawat of Ashok Vihar. According to the police, the arrested accused, Jyoti, has no prior criminal record. Further investigation into the matter is underway, and the police are also examining other aspects related to the incident.
