New Delhi: Major action has been taken following the accident that occurred near the Saket Metro Station in Delhi's Saidul Ajaib area. Two officials from the MCD have been suspended. It is reported that five people have died so far following the collapse of a five-story building in Saidul Ajaib. Several injured individuals are currently undergoing treatment at AIIMS Hospital.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta visited the accident site on Sunday morning and sought details regarding the relief and rescue operations from the officials. During her visit, CM Rekha Gupta stated that strict action would be taken against those responsible for the accident.
Additionally, CM Rekha Gupta ordered a magisterial inquiry to be led by the District Magistrate (DM). Officials have also been directed to inspect dilapidated and hazardous buildings in the vicinity and to take strict action where necessary.
In connection with this tragic accident, MCD Junior Engineer (JE) Aman Jain and Assistant Engineer (AE) Sudesh Singh Chauhan have been suspended. This action was taken following CM Rekha's inspection.
Three of the victims—Ravi, Nalin Kapil, and Parvati Ojha—have been identified, while the fifth victim remains unidentified. Ravi had obtained his MBBS degree from Kyrgyzstan and was currently preparing for his postgraduate studies. He had gone to a canteen to have a meal with friends when he fell victim to the tragedy.
