Ranchi: Political activity has intensified once again in Jharkhand following the Rajya Sabha elections. JD(U) MLA Saryu Roy has suggested to Chief Minister Hemant Soren that he sever ties with the Congress party. Roy argues that a coalition government could function smoothly in the state even without the Congress and the BJP. Combining the 34 MLAs from the JMM, 4 from the RJD, and 2 from the CPI(ML) brings the total to 40. With the additional support of one MLA each from the JD(U) and JLKM, the figure would reach 42—sufficient to secure a majority.

Has Saryu Roy obtained permission from Amit Shah?

While there has been no reaction from the JMM regarding JD(U) MLA and former minister Saryu Roy's suggestion, the Congress has launched a sharp counter-attack. Lal Kishore Nath Shahdeo, General Secretary and Media Department Convener of the Jharkhand Congress, posed a pointed question: has Saryu Roy obtained permission from Union Home Minister Amit Shah for the government-formation formula he is proposing?

What did Congress say about BJP's plans in Jharkhand?

The Congress General Secretary stated that the lust for power among BJP and NDA leaders became evident after the Rajya Sabha elections; however, the people of Jharkhand had given a mandate to keep the BJP out of power in the 2024 assembly elections, and the BJP's nefarious designs in the state would not succeed in the future either.

Does Saryu Roy have the support of the entire NDA?

Lal Kishore Nath Shahdeo remarked that Saryu Roy should first clarify to the public which alliance and party ticket he contested and won the election on. He questioned whether the entire NDA alliance was moving in the direction of the support Roy was discussing, or if this was merely his personal speculation. Shahdeo asserted that no matter what tactics the opposition employs, their intention to topple the elected government would never succeed. Saryu Roy's formula lacks credibility

The Congress General Secretary stated that the coming and going of new allies is a constant feature of politics, but asked whether other constituents of the INDIA alliance—such as the RJD and CPI(ML)—also agree with this. He alleged that the opposition is continuously conspiring to destabilize the democratically elected government. Lal Kishore Nath Shahdev categorically stated that the formula being proposed by Saryu Roy lacks credibility.
