Tarn Taran: During a police operation in the Tarn Taran district of Punjab, an accused has been killed, who was recently accused of being involved in the murder of Aam Aadmi Party Sarpanch Jermal Singh. This incident happened near the Bhikhivind area.
Police said the accused, Harnoor Singh, also known as Noor, was believed to be a key member of the murder plan. He was already under the surveillance of the police and was on the lookout.
Police and special teams received information that Harnoor was roaming in the area on a bike. When the police tried to stop him, he started firing. In response, the police also opened fire and firing took place from both sides.
A police officer came under fire but survived because he was wearing a bulletproof vest. Meanwhile, Harnoor was seriously injured in the retaliatory firing and later died while being taken to the hospital. A pistol has also been recovered from the spot.
Senior police officials have said that Harnoor was involved in planning the murder and surveying the area. They are investigating along with teams like CBI and local police so that the entire conspiracy can be exposed.
Jarmal Singh, who was the sarpanch of Valthoa village in Tarn Taran district, had recently gone to a wedding ceremony when two unidentified assailants opened fire and seriously injured him. He later died in the hospital. The police was trying to get to the bottom of that case.
Police are still working to identify and arrest the remaining people involved. Officials said that this encounter is an important part of the investigation of the case, but the network of the entire conspiracy is still to be exposed.
