Atiq’s Son Umar in Trouble? 25-30 Vehicles Allegedly Crossed Toll Without Payment

Uttar Pradesh: A case related to the convoy carrying Umar Ahmed, son of mafia Atiq Ahmed, has come to light. Many vehicles have been accused of allegedly passing without paying toll tax and damaging the barrier at the toll plaza located in Nawabganj, Prayagraj. After the incident, Assistant Manager of Toll Plaza Jaiprakash Yadav lodged a complaint at Nawabganj police station. The police have registered a case in the matter and started an investigation.

According to the information, this incident took place on August 8 at Nawabganj toll plaza on NH-19. At that time Umar Ahmed was being taken from Lucknow jail to Jhansi in police custody. He came out on parole to attend the funeral of his younger brother Aban.

What happened at the toll plaza?

According to the complaint, at around 3:50 pm, the police escort of Umar Ahmed passed through toll booth number three. After the government vehicles left, many other vehicles also followed the convoy towards the toll plaza.

It is alleged that around 25 to 30 vehicles including white colored Mahindra XUV and black colored Creta started passing without paying toll tax. During this period, the boom barrier of the toll booth is also said to have been damaged.

What happened if the toll employees tried to stop?

According to the toll plaza employees, they stopped the vehicles and asked them to pay toll tax. It is alleged that during this period some people abused and threatened the toll employees.

It has also been alleged in the complaint that some vehicles were pushed towards the employees. The toll workers saved themselves by retreating. After the incident, the toll plaza management informed the police about the matter.

Which vehicles were identified?

The numbers of some vehicles have also been given in the complaint lodged by the Assistant Manager. Among these, Mahindra XUV UP 32 NJ 1458 and Black Creta UP 70 HP 8416 have been mentioned. Apart from this, the numbers of other vehicles included in the convoy have also been made available to the police.

On the basis of these numbers, the police is now busy collecting information about the concerned vehicles and their owners.

What action did the police initiate?

Nawabganj police station has registered a case on the basis of the complaint of the assistant manager of the toll plaza. The complaint alleges damage to government property i.e. toll barriers and loss of revenue in the form of toll tax.

Police are checking the numbers of the vehicles registered in the FIR. On the basis of this, efforts will be made to find out who was driving the vehicle at the time of the incident and who were the people involved in the convoy. Further legal action will be taken after investigation.

Why were Umar and Ali given parole?

Actually, Atiq Ahmed's youngest son Aban Ahmed had died in a road accident. Aban's last rites were to be performed in Jhansi. Omar and his brother Ali were granted parole by the court to attend the family funeral.

Umar was brought out of Lucknow jail and Ali out of jail. Meanwhile, both of them were being taken to the family under police protection. According to the report, some supporters of Atiq were also travelling with the vehicles.

While this convoy was passing through Nawabganj toll plaza, a case of several vehicles allegedly passing without paying toll and damaging the barrier has come to light. At present the police is investigating the entire incident and further action is being taken on the basis of the vehicles registered in the FIR.
