Ayodhya: Police found huge amounts of cash at the homes of the accused. Rs 79,85,493 in Indian currency. And $900 in foreign money. The money came from devotees, some from foreign donors and overseas Indians. Seven of the eight arrested had cash. Only one had nothing. All eight accused are now in jail.
Avinash Shukla had the most. Police found about Rs 20 lakh at his place. Just the bundles of notes, so the officers were shocked when they saw it.
Subhash Srivastav, the counting officer at the temple, had nothing. Police found zero rupees and zero foreign currency. But he is still accused as he was the in charge of counting donations. He had a role in the theft, investigators said.
The $900 came from foreign devotees and NRI worshippers. They gave this money as offerings. The accused stole it. All eight accused are behind the bars. The SIT is now digging deeper as they are checking bank accounts. They are looking at properties and examining transactions from the last few months. Everything is being investigated followed by everything looks suspicious.
The money recovered will be shown in court. It is the main evidence as it proves the theft. It also proves who stole. Police said that no one will be spared. No matter who is the person. Anyone who hurts the faith of devotees will face justice. That is the promise.
