Azamgarh Shocker: Minor Allegedly Subjected to Forced Circumcision, Probe Underway

Azamgarh: In Kaptanganj police station area of Azamgarh district of Uttar Pradesh, neighbors coaxed a minor child of a Hindu family and took him to their home and forcibly circumcised him. The child continued bleeding and became unconscious. The family came to know about the incident when the child did not return. Based on the complaint, the police have registered a case against three accused, but no arrests have been made so far.

What happened that day?

Three youths of the locality named Badshah, Karim and Mansoor took Ayush Soni, son of the victim Rinku Soni, with them on the pretext of playing. There they first beat the child, then circumcised him with a blade. The wound was so deep that the bleeding was not stopping and the child became unconscious. Only when the family members reached there, the entire incident came to light. The child was immediately taken to the hospital.

Even the family was beaten for protesting?

The victim's family says that when they reached the spot and started creating ruckus, the accused also beat them up. That is, first he raised his hand on the child, then tried to suppress the family. The family reached the police station and gave a written complaint and demanded that strict action be taken against the culprits.

What action did the police take?

SP Rural Chirag Jain said that on the basis of the complaint, a case has been registered against the three named accused and investigation is going on. But the question is that this incident of circumcision happened on Friday and till Saturday morning all three accused were roaming freely. The victim's family is unhappy with the laxity of the police.

Is there tension in the area?

As soon as the news spread, the atmosphere in Kaptanganj became heated. People were discussing on the streets. Demand is being raised for immediate arrest of the accused. The administration has increased police patrolling in the area.

When will family get justice?

This case is not just about cruelty to a child, it is also a question of how long the accused will remain out even after the FIR is registered. Every hour is heavy for the victim's family. Police say investigation is going on, family asks when will arrest be made.
