Lucknow: Union Minister for Food Processing Industries Chirag Paswan's party Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) has taken a big decision regarding the Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections 2027. It was announced that the party will contest all 403 assembly seats in the state on its own.

What did the party say?

East Uttar Pradesh State President for LJP, Rajeev Paswan, clarified that they have an NDA alliance with the BJP at the Centre, but there will be no alliance in Uttar Pradesh. The party is preparing for the elections with the motto “UP First, UP Wale First”.

The party said that it will contest all 403 assembly seats in the state on its own. The move is being seen as an attempt to strengthen the party's presence among the Dalit and youth in THE STATE.

What did Rajeev Paswan say?

Rajeev Paswan also criticized the opposition. Targeting Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav, he accused the underprivileged community of being misled in the name of 'PDA'.

He also criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, asking why he did not give the Bharat Ratna to Kanshi Ram when he was in power.

Rajiv Paswan also said that Bhimrao Ambedkar had lost the Lok Sabha elections twice during the Congress period. He also claimed that we are reaching out to the people on the basis of the work of party founder Ram Vilas Paswan and the party is getting a good response.

How strong is the party in Uttar Pradesh?

Chirag Paswan's Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) is currently considered to have limited strength in Uttar Pradesh. The party is mainly Bihar-centric and has a low organizational presence in UP. In the 2022 assembly elections, the party fielded candidates on around 21 seats, but failed to win a single seat and its vote share remained very low (around 0.01 per cent).

When are the elections in Uttar Pradesh?

The Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections are likely to be held around February-March 2027. Voting will be held for all 403 seats. There are a total of 403 seats in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly.
