Mathura: A speeding Honda City car collided with a toll patrol vehicle ahead of it on the Yamuna Expressway on Sunday evening. Following the collision, the car lost control, crashed into a roadside pole, and caught fire. Raghav, a resident of Rajouri Garden, Delhi, who was driving the car, died in the accident, while his sister Pratibha, the driver of the patrol vehicle, and a police officer inside it sustained injuries. All the injured have been admitted to the hospital for treatment.
The accident occurred near milestone 108, past the Mathura toll plaza, within the Raya police station limits. It is reported that Raghav was traveling from the direction of Noida in a Honda City car with his sister, Pratibha. Near milestone 108, their speeding car rammed into the rear of the expressway's toll patrol vehicle. The impact was so severe that the car spun around and crashed into a roadside pole. Subsequently, the car caught fire, trapping the siblings inside.
Immediately after the accident, motorists passing by stopped their vehicles. Passersby began efforts to rescue the siblings trapped in the car. Meanwhile, the fire began to spread rapidly to the front of the vehicle. After much effort, people managed to break the window and pull both of them out. Upon receiving the information, police and fire brigade teams arrived at the scene.
The police sent Raghav and Pratibha, as well as the patrol vehicle's driver, Pratap, and the police personnel inside it, to the hospital for treatment. Raghav succumbed to his injuries on the way. Pratibha and the other injured individuals are currently undergoing treatment.
CO Mant Amarnath Yadav stated that, prima facie, the Honda City was speeding. The car rear-ended the patrol vehicle and subsequently lost control, crashing into the railing. The siblings were the occupants of the car. The causes of the accident are being investigated.
