Muzaffarnagar: The Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET) 2026 began in Muzaffarnagar district on Sunday, with examinations being conducted at 22 centres. The first shift is scheduled from 10 am to noon, while the second shift will take place from 3 pm to 5 pm. The examination will also be held in two shifts on October 30 and November 1.
Candidates are being allowed inside examination centres only after their admit cards have been verified and biometric scans completed. Security personnel are also conducting frisking before entry to prevent unfair practices.
Wearing ordinary wristwatches, smartwatches and carrying other electronic devices inside examination halls is prohibited. Candidates have been instructed to reach their allotted centres at least one hour before the examination begins. Those arriving after the prescribed reporting deadline will not be permitted to enter.
District Inspector of Schools Harikesh Yadav said administrative officials inspected examination centres on Saturday to review preparations. He added that arrangements had been completed in accordance with the examination commission’s instructions.
The centres have been equipped with CCTV cameras and adequate police deployment. Facilities include drinking water, separate toilets for male and female candidates, and help desks to assist examinees.
Alongside government and government-aided educational institutions, five private schools have been selected as examination centres in the district. These include D.S. Public School, Deep Chand Grain Chamber Inter College, M.G. Public School, New Horizon School and S.D. Public School.
Several colleges and intermediate schools across Muzaffarnagar city are also hosting the examination.
The first shift is underway under administrative supervision, with the second shift scheduled for 3 pm to 5 pm. Officials are monitoring arrangements to ensure that the examination is conducted fairly, transparently and without disruption.
