Lucknow: Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna presented the budget for 2026-27 in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly today. The total size of the budget has been kept at more than Rs 9 lakh crore. The government said it was in the direction of making Uttar Pradesh self-reliant. Khanna presented many big figures. The per capita income of the state is estimated to reach Rs 1.20 lakh. The unemployment rate in the state decreased to 2.24 percent. Six crore people were lifted out of multidimensional poverty.

Gross State Domestic Product in 2024-25 is Rs 30.25 lakh crore. There has been an increase of 13.4 percent from last year. Per capita income in 2016-17 was Rs 54,564. Now it has increased to Rs 109,844.

Exports reached Rs 44,744 crore.

Uttar Pradesh is leading in agricultural production. It is at the forefront in wheat, paddy, sugarcane, banana, mango, and mint. Free electricity will continue to be provided to farmers. Focus on agriculture will increase.

What does the Economic Survey say?

The budget in 2016-17 was Rs 3.47 lakh crore. Now it has become Rs 8.33 lakh crore. Capital expenditure doubled. The growth rate has increased rapidly.
