Vrindavan: A devotional atmosphere prevailed at the famous Shri Hit Radha Kelikunj Ashram in Vrindavan when renowned singer Padma Shri Kumar Sanu arrived to meet Saint Premanand Maharaj. Kumar Sanu, who had come directly to Vrindavan from the United States, sought the blessings of Saint Premanand Maharaj. He said that he had come there solely for the purpose of having his darshan (seeing him) and receiving his blessings.

How was Kumar Sanu introduced to Premanand Maharaj?

Upon his arrival at the ashram, one of Saint Premanand Maharaj's disciples introduced Kumar Sanu, mentioning that he has been singing continuously since the 1990s and has sung more than 27,000 songs to date. Those accompanying Kumar Sanu also confirmed that he had traveled all the way from the United States to Vrindavan specifically for this darshan.

What discussion were held between Kumar Sanu and Premanand Maharaj?

On this occasion, Kumar Sanu also presented a song before Saint Premanand Maharaj. Hearing his popular song, the atmosphere in the ashram became emotional and filled with devotion. After the song concluded, Saint Premanand Maharaj said, "Life is precious, therefore one should constantly remember the name of God."

What advice Kumar Sanu got from Premanand Maharaj?

Commenting on Kumar Sanu's popularity, Saint Premanand Maharaj said that he must have performed great penance in his previous life, which is why he is so popular today. Being popular is no small feat. You have made a place in the hearts of the people. Your voice is pleasing to the ears of Indian music lovers; this is the result of the merits of your past life. The Maharaj encouraged him to continue singing devotional songs and performing acts of public service so that he may be reborn in India in his next life and his fame may endure.

During the interaction, Kumar Sanu mentioned that one of his songs is very close to his heart, a song that anyone can sing for their loved ones—be it God, siblings, or a life partner. He then moved everyone with his rendition of the song, "Jab koi baat bigad jaaye, jab koi mushkil pad jaaye... tum dena saath mera" (When something goes wrong, when a difficulty arises... you be there for me).
