New Delhi: Phones flash ‘extremely severe alert’ as IMD warns of rain, thunderstorm with winds up to 100 kmph in parts of Uttar Pradesh. The weather appears to be changing in the western part of Uttar Pradesh. The impact of a Western Disturbance is intensifying across the region, stretching from Ghaziabad and Noida to Delhi-NCR. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for thunderstorms and rain.
According to the alert, strong storms are expected at several locations in Noida and Ghaziabad districts over the next three hours. Wind speeds could range from 70 to 90 km/h, potentially reaching up to 100 km/h. Lightning and moderate to heavy rainfall are also anticipated during this period. The Meteorological Department has also predicted the possibility of hailstorms in some areas. In light of this, people have been advised to remain alert and cautious, and are urged to avoid staying in dangerous locations or taking shelter under trees.
Ghaziabad District Magistrate (DM) Ravindra Kumar Mandar also provided details regarding the storm and rain. He stated that, according to information received via the 'Sachet' app, a strong storm is expected within the next three hours. Wind speeds are likely to range between 70 and 90 km/h, potentially reaching 100 km/h in some places.
The DM noted that a 'Red Alert' has been issued, indicating the likelihood of lightning, moderate to heavy rain, and hailstorms. The Meteorological Department has issued alerts for the districts of Agra, Aligarh, Baghpat, Bijnor, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Hathras, Mathura, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, and Shamli.
The Meteorological Department has issued a 'Red Alert' for storms and rain across 14 districts. These include Agra, Hathras, Mathura, Aligarh, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr, Hapur, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Baghpat, Bijnor, Muzaffarnagar, Shamli, and Saharanpur. An alert has been issued for winds blowing at speeds of 70 to 100 km/h and rainfall in this area.
Meanwhile, an 'Orange Alert' for thunderstorms and rain has been issued for the districts of Sonbhadra, Chitrakoot, Mahoba, Banda, Hamirpur, Etawah, Agra, Firozabad, Etah, Hathras, Kasganj, Aligarh, Bulandshahr, Sambhal, Hapur, Amroha, Moradabad, Meerut, Bijnor, and Muzaffarnagar, as well as their surrounding areas. Rainfall and thunderstorms with wind speeds of up to 60 km/h are expected in these regions.
The Meteorological Department has issued a 'Yellow Alert' for the districts of Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Chandauli, Chitrakoot, Mahoba, Banda, Kaushambi, Hamirpur, Jalaun, Lalitpur, Jhansi, Etawah, Agra, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Kasganj, Rampur, Aligarh, Budaun, Sambhal, Moradabad, and Bijnor, along with their surrounding areas. Thunderstorms with wind speeds of up to 40 km/h are likely in these districts, and light rain is also expected during this period.
