Dehradun: Uttarakhand's disaster management model has received great appreciation on the international platform. In the BRICS Disaster Risk Reduction Working Group meeting held in Puri, the relief and rescue operations conducted by the state were described as an excellent example of effective management. Specially mentioning the Dharali disaster and the Silkyara tunnel rescue operation, the experts praised the working style of Uttarakhand.

This complex operation, which lasted for several days, is counted among the most challenging rescue operations in the world. All the workers were evacuated safely with the joint efforts of various agencies. Representatives of BRICS countries described this campaign as an example of patience and technical efficiency.

The SDRF teams worked tirelessly in difficult conditions to speed up the relief operations, which was appreciated.
Uttarakhand also gave prominence to the use of modern technology in disaster management. Measures such as early warning systems, geospatial technology and digital monitoring helped make relief operations more effective. Experts believed that this balance of technology and human efforts could prove useful for other sectors as well.
