West Bengal: The first supplementary list of the voter list under Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in West Bengal is scheduled to be released on Monday evening. The state administration is on full alert. Additional police forces have been deployed in sensitive areas and special arrangements have been made to deal with any disturbance.
According to sources in the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) office, out of the total pending cases of around 60 lakh (most of which were logical discrepancy or verification issues), around 27 lakh 30 thousand cases have been disposed of so far. This first supplementary list will be released on the basis of these settled cases, in which approved names will be added or deleted names will be confirmed.
During the entire SIR process so far, names of around 10 lakh people have been removed from the voter list. To make it easier for people to check, hard copies of these removed names will also be placed at the respective booth level so that everyone can check at the local level. There is no need to go online.
Voters can easily check this supplementary list by visiting the official website of the Election Commission or West Bengal CEO Portal. The list will be in two parts, one containing newly added or approved names and the other containing deleted names.
If your name has been removed, don't panic. You'll have every chance to appeal. You can present your views through the online portal or by going to the offline appeal tribunal and submit the necessary documents.
The Election Commission is keeping a close eye on the entire matter. Senior officers are visiting many police stations in the state and instructions have been given to the officers to ensure that the process remains completely fair and peaceful. Apart from this, there is news that till March 31, about 300 additional companies of Central Security Forces (CAPF) will be deployed in the state so that any situation can be handled immediately.
This entire process directly affects the voters. Therefore everyone should keep checking their voter status from time to time. If your name is added or (worse) removed from this list or in future updates, please appeal or seek correction immediately. This will not cause any problem at the time of elections.
