Google Down in India: Users Report ‘Server Error’ While Using Search Engine

New Delhi: Thousands of users got upset due to sudden impact of Google services in India on Tuesday morning. People across the country complained about lack of access to Google search engine, problems in website loading and content not opening. More than 3,300 complaints were registered on outage tracking platform Downdetector as of 10:23 am.

Users were also seen continuously sharing screenshots and error messages on social media platforms X and Reddit. However, after some time, the number of complaints started decreasing rapidly, which indicated that the problem was gradually getting resolved.

Did Google Search stop completely?

Many users claimed that Google Search results were not loading at all. Some people saw messages like “Internal Server Error”, while many users faced blank screens or slow responses. According to Downdetector data, about 57 percent of the complaints were directly related to Google Search. At the same time, 28 percent people reported problems with content loading, while some users complained about not being able to access the website.

Is this problem seen only in India?

In the initial reports, most of the complaints came from India. However, some foreign users on social media also talked about problems in Google services. Tech experts believe that this could possibly be a server or network level technical problem. However, no official statement was issued by Google till the time of writing the news.

How did users react on social media?

As soon as the news of Google being down spread, there was a flood of memes and reactions on social media. One user wrote, “It is very rare for Google to be down, I don't remember the last time this happened.” While another user jokingly wrote, “If Google itself will not work, then where will people search for the problem?” Some people called it a major technological event in the Internet world.

Are services normal now?

After some time, there was a decline in the complaints registered on Downdetector. This indicated that Google's technical team has controlled the problem to a great extent. Many users later reported that Search and other services have started working normally again. However, from time to time some people faced slow speed and loading problems.
