Especially at a time when there is talk of reducing dependence on LPG cylinders, people are increasingly shifting towards PNG. The question is how to apply online for a PNG connection and what things are important to keep in mind.

Is PNG available in your area?

The first step is to find out whether there is a pipeline gas facility in your area or not. For this, you have to go to the website of the gas supply company of your city and enter the pin code or address. A different company works in every city, like IGL in Delhi-NCR, MGL in Mumbai and Adani Total Gas provides services in many cities.

How to apply online?

If PNG is available in your area, the next step is to apply. For this one, you have to go to the “New Connection” or “Apply for PNG” section on the website of the concerned gas company. Here you have to fill in basic information like your name, address, and mobile number. After this the application is submitted by uploading the necessary documents.

What documents will be required?

Some important documents are asked while applying. These include identity cards (Aadhaar, PAN, and Voter ID), address proof and property related papers. If you live on rent, then NOC from the landlord may also have to be given.

How much does connection cost?

For a PNG connection, a security deposit has to be paid, which can usually be between Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000. This amount is refundable and covers the basic cost of pipeline installation.

What happens after application?

After the form is submitted, the gas company checks your details. After this, a team visits the site to see whether it is possible to provide a connection or not. If everything is correct, pipeline and meter are installed in the house and then the gas supply is started.

If the pipeline already exists in your area, the connection can start within 7 to 15 days. However, in new areas this time may take longer.
