New Delhi: A Swiggy Instamart customer in Chennai spent more than Rs 1 lakh on condoms over the past year, according to the company’s annual shopping report. The account placed 228 separate orders for condoms, with a total bill of around Rs 1,06,398.
It isn't just the amount that stood out. The frequency and consistency of the orders caught attention in the quick-commerce platform's year-end analysis titled 'How India Instamarted 2025'. Condoms were among a number of products that featured regularly in customer baskets nationwide, showing how personal care items are now part of everyday online shopping.
According to the report, Indians used Instamart not just for basics like milk and vegetables, but for a wide variety of items. Orders ranged from everyday groceries to high-value goods like smartphones and gold.
Swiggy’s data showed a spike in condom orders in September, with a notable jump compared with other months. Overall, about one in every 127 Instamart orders included a pack of condoms.
The figures reflect how quick commerce apps are being used for all kinds of needs, from the routine to the personal. For many shoppers, these platforms offer convenience and privacy, especially for products that might feel awkward to buy in person.
The company's 2025 analysis paints a picture of an evolving digital shopping landscape in India, where customers are experimenting with and relying on fast delivery for a broader range of needs than ever before.
