New Delhi: If you are a corporate labourer, you must be well acquainted with the fact that 8 to 10 hours of desk work daily can ruin anyone's posture and lead to back problems. A comfortable chair might seem like a good thing, but who will pay for it? Of course, the office management is expected to foot the bill. However, after being denied this basic right, an employee has posted his story on Reddit.
The employee may have been denied a chair, but his CEO has a chair worth $3,000, or about 2.7 lakh rupees.
The employee explained in the post that he has been working at the company since 2019. Since then, his back has given up due to the 10 hours of desk work daily.
"A chair with ergonomic support could be useful right now. When we discussed this with HR, they were told there wasn't enough budget. Employees feel cheated and are now eyeing their boss's 2.7 lakh rupees chair. A chair with ergonomic support could be useful right now," the employee said in the Reddit post.
"When HR was contacted, we were told there was no budget. Employees feel cheated and are staring at the boss's 2.7 lakh rupees chair. They assume it's the CEO's money, and they can spend it on their own needs. But the company doesn't even have enough money to buy a comfortable chair for employees," the post added.
The employees want to know what can be done. HR's response to this was that they should bring a doctor's note, and then something can be done. In the post, the employee talked about buying the chair himself, and most users seem to agree. One user wrote, "Buy the chair yourself," while another wrote, "If you leave the job, take it with you."
