Hapur: A family traveling with the help of Google Map in Hapur district of Uttar Pradesh had to face a lot of trouble. The family, which was going from Dadri to Meerut's Kithore to attend a wedding, lost its way and their car got stuck in a water-logged drain. Many family members including children and women were traveling in the car. There was panic in the area after the incident. On receiving the information, the fire department and rescue team reached the spot and after an operation that lasted for about two hours, all the people were taken out safely.
This incident is being reported from Shamnagar area of Hapur city. The family was going from Dadri to Kithore in Meerut and was using Google Maps for the route. During this time, they reached a route where the road was filled with water. The family thought that the vehicle would pass easily, but within some time the car landed in the drain and got stuck there.
It is reported that four members of the same family and children were traveling in the car. After the vehicle got stuck in the drain, all the people got trapped inside. It was not easy to get out due to water and mud. As soon as information about the incident was received, local people also reached the spot and the administration was informed.
Sahil, who was driving the car, said that they were going to attend a wedding. He said that he was moving on the path shown by Google Maps. The road appeared to be filled with water, but they felt that the car would pass easily. After moving some distance the vehicle got stuck. After this he called for help.
On receiving the information, the fire department and rescue team reached the spot. The rescue workers first reached the people trapped in the car and then took everyone out safely one by one. According to officials, the entire operation took about two hours. It is a matter of relief that no person was seriously injured in the accident.
The rescue team says that initial investigation has revealed that the family had reached the wrong path. It is believed that following the route shown on Google Maps, the vehicle reached an area where there was waterlogging and part of the drain was not clearly visible.
Rescue officer Narendra Kumar said that information was received about a car stuck in a drain in Shamnagar area. The team immediately reached the spot and all the people were evacuated safely. He said that there was no loss of life in the incident and later the action to take out the vehicle was also started.
Incidents of losing one's way or causing accidents due to navigation apps have already come to light in different parts of the country. Experts say that technology is certainly useful, but ignoring local conditions and signs on unfamiliar roads can prove risky. This incident in Hapur also reminds us that vigilance is most important during travelling.
