Keralas Chief Electoral Officer, Dr. Ratan U. Kelkar, announced that, in accordance with electoral laws, all forms of public campaigning activities came to a complete halt at 6:00 PM on April 7. Restrictions Imposed on Several Activities
During this period, strict restrictions are also in place regarding cultural events—such as music shows, theatrical performances, or any form of entertainment—intended to influence voters. Authorities have also prohibited the display of election-related content via television, cinema, or similar electronic media. This ban extends to radio broadcasts as well, ensuring that voters are not exposed to any last-minute political messages that could sway their decision.

Prior Approval is Mandatory
Furthermore, it will be mandatory to obtain prior approval from the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) for political advertisements in newspapers on the day preceding the polling and on the day of polling itself. As another measure to prevent undue influence, political workers, party functionaries, and campaigners who are not registered voters in a particular constituency must leave that area immediately after the campaign period concludes. The objective of this step is to minimize external interference and ensure a level playing field for all candidates. Emphasizing the importance of voter confidence, the Chief Electoral Officer urged all political parties, candidates, and the general public to strictly adhere to these guidelines.
