Alia’s Cannes journey began even before she stepped onto the red carpet. Her airport appearance itself became a fashion moment. She was seen wearing a black outfit from Carolina Herrera’s Spring 2026 collection, paired with sleek accessories and soft styling.

Antique Piece

Alia’s first festival appearance came in a 50s style dress by That Antique Piece, hand-painted by Basuri Chokshi. Designed by Yash Patil, the full-circle dress took its cues from the 1950s, with a corseted bodice, angular cups and a voluminous skirt built through layers of silk organza and tulle.

Peach Gown

For the opening ceremony, Bhatt chose a custom coral-pink Tamara Ralph couture gown in silk crêpe. The column silhouette featured a bustier neckline with a plunging central cut-out, accompanied by sheer silk voile chiffon drapes from the arms.

The Ivory Tarun Tahiliani Look Became an Instant Favourite

One of Alia’s most discussed appearances came at the India Pavilion, where she wore a custom ivory outfit by Indian designer Tarun Tahiliani.

Princess Gown

Alia stepped into a custom steel-blue Danielle Frankel gown, adapted from the label’s Adira dress. The look paired a slim spaghetti-strap bodice with a voluminous skirt built from layers of silk satin, honeycomb lace and Chantilly lace.

Dhoti-Style Skirt

The outfit featured a draped dhoti-style skirt with a sculpted corset blouse and soft layered detailing. The styling remained minimal, allowing the craftsmanship of the garment to stand out naturally.

Tarun Tahiliani couture

Alias outfit was inspired by the history of textiles but portrayed in a couture manner. The inspiration came from the florals in the archived chintz textiles whose designs came from the intricately-patterned Indian fabrics that used to be exported to European countries in the colonial period.
