Case Investigation: Amarnath Ghosh Shot Dead in Missouri, USA

Case

Amarnath Ghosh was a graduate student in the Arts and Sciences-Performing Arts Department at the University of Washington in Missouri. The Kolkata-born Bharatnatyam and Kuchupudi dancer was reportedly shot and killed in St. Louis, Missouri, by an unidentified attacker.

Devoleena Bhattacharjee's statement

The actress expressed grief and demanded that action be taken. In another post she brought to attention that this is possibly the fifth or sixth murder of an Indian in America in the span of two months.

Family demands investigation

Amarnath Ghoshs uncle expressed on Saturday that four days have passed and he is still in the dark regarding the details of what happened with his nephew.

Washington University's statement

In regards to Amarnath Ghoshs The Washington University called the killing “senseless violence beyond comprehension” and condemned the act.

Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs's statement

The universitys VC reflected on the occurrence. Part of statement: His death is a terrible shock to us all. This type of senseless violence is beyond comprehension, and we are devastated by this loss. To have this happen in our own St. Louis community is especially heartbreaking.

Indian Consulate in Chicago

The consulate announced that it will take up the case with the Washington University and the St Louis police. A statement was provided on March 1, conveying that the consulate is working alongside the police to conduct a forensic, investigation.
