    After taking charge as the Prime Minister for the third time, Narendra Modi, on Monday released the 17th installment of the Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, which helps the farmers with their basic needs.

Scheme for the benefit of farmers

    PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana is a scheme started for the benefit of farmers, under which 6 thousand rupees are provided to the beneficiary farmers per year in 3 installments.

Eligibility

    Initially, the scheme was limited to small and marginal farmers having land up to 2 hectares, but now the benefit is extended to all the farmers of the country, who have land in their name.

The amount farmers get

    Under the scheme, farmers are given a benefit of Rs 6000 per year per family by the government in three equal installments of Rs 2000 every four months.

Who cannot claim for it?

    Institutional landholder farmers are out of this beneficiary list. Minister of State, MLA, Municipal Corporation member, etc cannot claim for the benefit.

Documents required for the scheme

    The applicant must have a copy of Khatauni which proves that the applicant has legal title over the land. The applicant must have his/her own newly generated Income Certificate and a valid Aadhaar Card for the disbursement of the scheme.

Bank Account

    The farmer must have a current (active) bank account in his/her name.
