Engineering Marvel: Chenab Bridge taller than the Eiffel Tower

    Indian railways performed its first trail run on the highest railway bridge from Sangaldan to Raesi, built 36 meters above river Chenab in Jammu and Kashmir on June 16. The bridge has performed its train run days before PM Modi’s visit to Srinagar on the account of World Yoga Day.

    The commencement of this railway line will take place after 4-5 months which will connect the Kashmir valley with the whole country.

Trial Run completion

    Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnav shared the news of the accomplishment via social media handle informing that the first train run from Sangaldan to Raesi, crossing the Chenab Bridge was done successfully.

Construction on the stages of completion

    He also mentioned that the construction for Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project are almost complete and Tunnel no. 1 remains partially incomplete.

Enroute Inspection

    Railway officials informed that a two-day inspection will be conducted by the end of the month on Sangaldan- Raesi section.

Higher than the Eiffel Tower

    The Chenab bridge is built 360 m above the Chenab River and it is 35 m higher from Eiffel tower.
