Kolkata: Following its resounding victory in West Bengal, questions had been constantly raised regarding which leader the BJP—forming a government in the state for the first time—would entrust with the responsibility of governance. Who would be the Chief Minister? On Friday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, upon arriving in Kolkata, put an end to this speculation. Suvendu Adhikari will be the new Chief Minister of West Bengal. Following this announcement, Suvendu stated that he would fulfill all the promises made in the party's election manifesto for Bengal.

What Are Suvendu Adhikari's 5 Major Promises?

"We will fulfill the guarantees that PM Modi gave to the people of Bengal. The Central and State governments will work together to fulfill the aspirations of the people of Bengal. We will fulfill every promise made in our manifesto within a stipulated timeframe. Our mantra is 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas' (Support of all, Development for all, Trust of all, Efforts of all). The years of hard work in Bengal have finally borne fruit. We will make Bengal free from fear. Under BJP rule, there will be neither the politicization of the administration nor the criminalization of politics. Our daily objective is to transform West Bengal—to create a state where, in the words of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore, "the mind is without fear and the head is held high," Suvendu Adhikari said.

"We desire a Bengal that is free from fear and imbued with dignity. Our massive victory in Bengal is not merely about the expansion of our organization or the validation of our ideology; rather, it is about rectifying a critical vulnerability in the nation's security. From now on, illegal infiltration and cattle smuggling in West Bengal will become impossible. We do not believe in mere rhetoric; the BJP believes in delivering results through action. We speak less and work more. I give my assurance that in the days to come, both our government and our party organization will remain fully dedicated to the party's ideology and to the cultural ethos of West Bengal," he added.

What did Suvendu Adhikari say?

Suvendu Adhikari stated that the Central and State governments would work in tandem to fulfill the aspirations of the people of Bengal, and that they would honor the guarantees PM Modi had extended to the state's populace. He remarked that the years of tireless effort invested in Bengal have finally yielded their reward. Our mantra is 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas' (Support of all, Development for all, Trust of all, Efforts of all). We will make Bengal free from fear.

Suvendu stated that, every day, our objective is to transform West Bengal in accordance with PM Modi's vision. From BJP workers in Bengal to party colleagues in Assam, Himachal Pradesh, and other states, every single worker stands united by the party's ideology. Those who have joined us on this journey are deeply aligned with our ideological path. As Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore once wrote: 'Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high.' We aspire to create a Bengal that is free from fear and imbued with dignity.

Earlier, during the meeting, the election of senior leader Suvendu Adhikari as the leader of the BJP Legislative Party in West Bengal paved the way for him to potentially become the state's first BJP Chief Minister. Following the meeting, Amit Shah announced Suvendu's election as the leader of the legislative party during a press conference.
