Afterward, chant the mantra "Om Hreem Durgaya Namah." After the puja, distribute the prasad to those in need and then consume it yourself.
After worshipping the Goddess, Kanya Pujan is performed. Young girls are invited into the home and honored. Their feet are washed, a tilak is applied. Halwa, puri, and chickpea offerings are specially prepared for this day. A small boy, considered a form of Bhairava, is also seated with the girls. After the meal, they are given gifts and Dakshina (offerings) and sought for their blessings.
According to religious beliefs, girls between the ages of 2 and 10 are considered manifestations of the Goddess, and each age has its own significance. Worshiping these girls brings happiness and prosperity to the home, cures illness, and opens the door to success in life.
