New Delhi: This SUV has now been in the Indian market for four months. Sales began in March, and growth was observed in April; however, sales have plummeted rapidly over the last two months. In fact, June saw its lowest sales figures to date.
Sales of the Renault Duster are declining rather than growing. The SUV has completed a four-month run in the Indian market; while sales started in March and showed growth in April, they have dropped sharply over the past two months, hitting a record low in June. Specifically, 1,402 units were sold in March, 2,359 in April, 1,267 in May, and 1,011 in June, bringing the total sales over these four months to 6,039 units.
Its ex-showroom price starts at ₹10.49 lakh. Surprisingly, other models in the country's mid-size SUV segment are witnessing consistent growth. It competes with models such as the Maruti Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Tata Sierra.
The new Duster offers three engine options. The base variant features a 1.0L turbo-petrol (TCe 100) engine. There is also a 1.3L turbo-petrol engine (TCe 160) capable of generating 163 PS of power and 280 Nm of torque. Additionally, the strong-hybrid variant comes with a 1.8L strong-hybrid (E-Tech 160) petrol engine paired with an electric motor (and a 1.4 kWh battery pack). The hybrid version can run in EV mode for up to 80% of the time in city driving, translating to excellent mileage and lower running costs. Regarding transmission options, it offers a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed DCT automatic transmission.
The dimensions of the new Renault Duster make it a strong contender in the mid-size SUV segment. It offers 700 liters of boot space, making it perfect for long trips.
Safety has been a top priority in the new Duster. It comes equipped with features ranging from ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) to Hill Descent Control. It also offers multiple drive modes (Eco, Comfort, Perso). Additionally, it boasts a robust body structure and high ground clearance. In total, it includes 35 safety features.
Stepping inside offers a futuristic experience. It features a 10.1-inch touchscreen (with Google built-in), a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, over 60 connected features, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated and powered seats, and dual-zone climate control (with a PM2.5 filter). It also includes wireless charging and a premium sound system. This SUV is no longer just rugged and tough; it is now technologically advanced as well. Notably, all essential controls are operated via physical buttons, making them easy to use.
