New Delhi: Kia India has dealt a major blow to Indian buyers; purchasing Kia cars is set to become more expensive. The company has announced a price hike across its entire model range. Starting July 1, Kia vehicles will become up to 2% costlier. This price hike applies to petrol and diesel models as well as electric vehicles. Kia has not yet specified the exact price increase for individual models or variants; the company stated that full details regarding the new prices will be released on July 1, with adjustments varying by model and variant.

Rising Prices Due to Input and Operational Costs?

According to the company, the primary reason for the price hike is the continuously rising input and operational costs. In an official statement, Kia India explained that it has become necessary to revise prices due to the increasing cost of raw materials and higher operational expenses. The company noted that it has tried to absorb the majority of the cost burden itself and is implementing only a limited price increase to minimize the impact on customers.

Does Kia Offer Cars Across Multiple Segments?

Kia offers vehicles across various segments in India. Its portfolio includes models such as the Sonet, Seltos, Carens, Clavis, Syros, Carnival, EV6, and EV9. Among these, the EV6 and EV9 are the company's premium electric SUVs, while the Sonet and Seltos rank among its best-selling models.

Have Cars from Other Companies Also Become Costlier?

The impact of rising costs in the automobile sector is not limited to Kia alone; several other manufacturers have also raised vehicle prices in recent months. Companies are facing increased pressure due to rising input costs and currency fluctuations. Prior to Kia, companies such as Tata Motors, BMW India, Mercedes-Benz, Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, and Nissan had already increased the prices of their vehicles. Maruti Suzuki recently hiked the prices of its cars by up to ₹30,000, a change that came into effect on June 1.

If you are planning to buy a new Kia car or SUV, booking or purchasing one before July 1 could prove beneficial. Once the price hike takes effect, almost all of the company's vehicles will become more expensive than they currently are.
