Mahindra & Mahindra recently concluded its Independence Day show by unveiling four concept SUVs – Vision X, Vision T, Vision S, and Vision SXT. During this event, the all-new monocoque NU_IQ platform was also introduced, which serves as the base for all these SUV concepts. This new architecture can support multiple powertrains, including ICE, electric, and hybrid options.
The Mahindra Vision X and Vision S concepts are expected to compete with the next-generation XUV 3XO and Hyundai Creta. The firm has confirmed that SUVs based on the NU_IQ platform will start arriving by 2027. Here’s what you can expect from them. The next-generation XUV 3XO may borrow several design elements from Vision X. The concept model showcased Mahindra’s closed grille with the Twin Peak logo, thin lighting elements on the front bumper, a coupe-style windscreen, and a sculpted bonnet. Other design highlights included square wheel arches, aero-optimised wheel arches, black cladding from front to rear, flush-fitting door handles, and creases on the doors.
The next-generation Mahindra XUV 3XO, built on the NU_IQ platform like the Vision X, is expected to feature a range of power options, including petrol, electric, and hybrid engines. According to media reports, work on the hybrid and electric versions of this SUV is ongoing, and they are expected to launch by 2026.
The upcoming Mahindra mid-size SUV will be based on the Vision S concept, featuring a bold design and high ground clearance. Its design is expected to resemble a mini-Scorpio, with inverted L-shaped headlights, pixel-shaped fog lamps, and Mahindra’s signature logo flanked by three LED lights on each side. The Vision S concept also featured roof-mounted lights, a jerrycan, and a roof ladder along the kerbside, although these elements may not appear in the production model. The concept SUV also includes attractive wheel arches, 19-inch tyres, flush-fitting door handles, a rear bumper with integrated reflectors, L-shaped tail lamps, and a spare wheel mounted on the tailgate.
