Patna: The conflict that started in the country's politics over the march to the prime minister's residence and the Congress's protest is now openly visible on the streets as well. On Wednesday, BJP workers demonstrated strongly against Congress in Patna, the capital of Bihar. During this, both parties came face to face outside the Congress headquarters, and the situation became tense. An incident of stone pelting also came to light during the demonstration, after which heavy police force had to be deployed on the spot. The incident has created a new controversy in the politics of Bihar.

Apart from this, demonstrations took place on Wednesday afternoon in many cities including Bhopal, Lucknow, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, where information about the clash between Congress and BJP has been received.

What was the reason for BJP's demonstration?

The BJP organised this demonstration a day earlier in Delhi in protest against the march conducted by Congress leaders towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence. BJP leaders allege that Congress violated the limits of democratic protest and adopted a disrespectful attitude towards constitutional institutions. The party had announced protests across the country, calling it against democratic traditions. Under this campaign, BJP workers took to the streets in many cities including Patna.

What happened outside the Congress headquarters?

When BJP workers reached outside the Congress headquarters in Patna, there was sharp sloganeering between the supporters of both parties. Within no time the atmosphere heated up and an incident of stone pelting came to light amid allegations and counter-allegations. The police immediately intervened, separated both parties and took the situation under control. In view of the tension, additional police force was deployed in the Congress office and surrounding areas to prevent any untoward incident.

What allegations did BJP make against Congress?

BJP leaders alleged that Rahul Gandhi and the Congress leadership are continuously creating an atmosphere of political conflict. The party says that marching to the prime minister's residence and challenging the security arrangements was not in accordance with democratic norms. BJP demanded a public reply from Congress on this entire incident and said that anarchy in the name of political protest cannot be accepted.

What is Congress's stand?

Congress says its protest was against issues related to students and youth and the recent police action. Party leaders allege that the government is trying to suppress the voice of the opposition. Congress claims that the action to stop the peaceful protest by force has raised questions on democratic rights. The party has described BJP's performance as an attempt to create political pressure.

Can the political conflict escalate further?

This controversy, which started from Delhi, has now reached many states. BJP has already announced continuing the protests across the country, while Congress is also indicating it will continue its agitation. In such a situation, political rhetoric and street demonstrations between the two major parties are likely to intensify in the coming days. At present, the incident in Patna has made it clear that both parties are adamant on their stand and the political atmosphere does not seem to be calming down at the moment.
