Nitish Kumar's govt presents 2026-27 budget of Rs 3.47 lakh in Bihar Assembly

While presenting the budget, Bihar Finance Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav stated that the government aims to make Bihar a developed state under the leadership of CM Nitish Kumar.

Patna: The newly formed Nitish Kumar-led NDA government in Bihar on Tuesday presented a state budget for 2026-27 with a total outlay of Rs 3,47,589.76 crore in the state assembly. With the presentation of this budget, an increase of around Rs 30,000 crore was marked as compared to the previous year's budget of Rs 3.17 lakh crore for last financial year.

It is to be noted here that while presenting the budget, Bihar Finance Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav stated that the government aims to make Bihar a developed state, under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. 

During the budget speech, Yadav also linked Bihar's development model to five elements. He further stated said that the state's budget plans were being prepared on various aspects including integrity, knowledge, science, aspirations, and respect. He said, ''The main objective of the government is to move forward by combining education, technology, innovation, and social justice.''

It is to be noted here that in this budget the government has much prority to the affordable housing scheme for urban and rural areas.

Meanwhile, Nitish Kumar taking to his X, wrote, "Today, the Finance Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav presented the budget for the financial year 2026-27 in the Bihar Legislature. This is a budget that will fulfill the resolve of a Viksit Bihar. Based on the principle of development with justice, this budget takes care of all sectors and all sections of society, including farmers, entrepreneurs, youth, and women.''

''It is a comprehensive, inclusive, and development-promoting budget. This year, Bihar's budget is more than 3 lakh 47 thousand crore rupees, which is more than 30 thousand crore rupees compared to last year. The growth rate of Bihar is estimated to be 14.9 percent in the financial year 2026-27...," he added.
