New Delhi: Amid tension in West Asia, on the very first day of May, the price of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinders have been increased by Rs 993, taking the cost of a cylinder to Rs 3,071.50 in Delhi, according to sources. There has been no change announced for domestic LPG cylinder prices.
With the start of May, consumers of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders received a major shock this morning. According to the new rates released by Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), the price of commercial cylinders in Delhi has been increased by a whopping Rs 993. With this change, a cylinder in Delhi will now cost Rs 3,071.50 instead of Rs 2,078.50. Similarly, prices have also increased significantly in Mumbai and Kolkata.
IOC has only increased the price of commercial gas cylinders. Domestic LPG cylinder prices remain stable. In Delhi, a domestic cylinder is currently available at the old rate of Rs 913.

The rising cost of commercial gas cylinders is clearly affecting the pockets of the general public. Today, the price of gas cylinders has risen by more than Rs 900. A cylinder that used to cost Rs 2,000 will now cost around Rs 3,000. Consequently, the prices of restaurant meals may also rise.
