The deadline for filing ITR for the new financial year is July 31, 2026. If your return is filed after this date, you may incur a penalty. For your information, late filing can result in a penalty ranging from Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000. Therefore, taxpayers are advised not to wait until the last minute and to file their returns on time.
