New Delhi: Gold and silver rates in India are still affected by the international market, domestic demand and the fluctuation in the exchange rate. Gold prices have remained volatile due to the ongoing war against Iran in the USA. The Gold price had earlier jumped 0.86 per cent on the weekly chart after a series of below‑expected US economic data further bolstered the notion that the US Federal Reserve will keep interest rates steady.
On Friday, gold futures (October) at the MCX were up 0.73 per cent to Rs 154,590. However, silver futures on MCX for the September delivery rose by 0.15 per cent to end at Rs 2,36,272 per kg.
Price of 10 grams of 24 carat gold on Friday was Rs 1,49,621 per gram and on Monday when market opened was Rs 1,42,863 per gram, according to the data released by India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA).
The gold price in India has marginally risen as of now owing to the global demand and inflation in the country. The 24K gold is sold at Rs 15,487 per gram whereas the 22K gold is sold at Rs 14,196 per gram.
At present, Gold rates in New Delhi stand at Rs 15,528 (24K), Rs 14,235 (22K) and Rs 11,650 (18K) per gram. Gold rates are Rs 15,513 (24K), Rs 14,220 (22K) and Rs 11,635 (18K) in Mumbai. In Chennai, Gold rates have been Rs 15,513(24K), Rs 14,039 (22K) and Rs 12,000 (18K). Gold rates in Kolkata are Rs 15,513 (24K), Rs 14,220(22K) and Rs 11,635 (18K) respectively.
The Silver price in India today at present is quoted as Rs 254,900 for a kg and that of Sterling Silver (Silver 925) per kg price in India is Rs 2,54,000 per kg. Silver is far less precious and way much cheaper in comparison to that of gold, but this too is widely chosen to make rings, and are being used to make designs along with gold. As with gold, silver prices are also driven by world markets, and industrial demand plays a big role in silver price movements.
