During his speech from the Red Fort on the 79th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a new employment scheme worth Rs 1 lakh crore to support young people starting their first jobs in the private sector.
PM Modi announced the launch of the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rojgar Yojana from today. Under this programme, young men and women will get Rs 15,000 directly from the government when they get their first private-sector job. The scheme will also give incentives to companies that create more employement opportunities.
The Prime Minister explained that this plan aims to create about 3.5 crore new jobs. It is designed to help job seekers start their careers while also motivating private companies to hire more workers. This dual approach is expected to boost both employment and business growth.
PM Modi also spoke about the importance of technology, particularly the semiconductor industry. He shared that India had missed the chance to develop this sector decades ago. Now, the country is moving at full speed to make its own chips, with the first Made in India semiconductor products likely to be available by the end of this year.
The Prime Minister further revealed that the next stage of Goods and Services Tax (GST) reforms will be introduced by Diwali in October. He promised that the new GST structure will be simpler, easier to follow, and more convenient for both people and businesses, calling it a “big gift” for the nation.
