Thane: Thane Police have arrested the wife of the absconding accused Bijendra Gupta from Patna in connection with the alleged Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) 2026 paper leak case, according to officials on Tuesday. Gupta is the alleged mastermind of an interstate racket linked to multiple exam leaks. TET 2026 exam remains postponed amid SIT probe.

Thane police have taken major action in the Maharashtra TET paper leak case. Police have arrested Suman Kumari, whyo is the wife of accused Bijendra Kumar Gupta, from Patna. The investigation has revealed a Bihar connection. According to police, Bijendra Kumar Gupta, a resident of Samastipur, is the alleged mastermind of the entire network. However, he remains at large.

What did thye police say?

Maharashtra police teams are continuously conducting raids in Bihar, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana in search of Bijendra. However, he has not yet been apprehended. Bhiwandi police have already arrested three accused in this case. It was during interrogation that Bijendra Kumar Gupta's name surfaced.

The police claimed that Bijendra has been involved with the paper leak racket for a long time. His name has previously surfaced in several recruitment exam paper leak cases. According to reports, he was also an accused in a major paper leak case in 2011. Investigating
agencies believe he has been involved with this network for approximately 25 years.

Was the exam cancelled after paper leak?

The Maharashtra government postponed the TET-2026 exam, scheduled for June 28, following allegations of a paper leak. Approximately 600,000 candidates were scheduled to appear for the exam. 1,728 exam centers were set up across the state. The government stated that this decision was taken to maintain transparency. Police are currently investigating the entire network and trying to determine which states and individuals are involved in this racket.
