New Delhi: Actress Rashmika Mandanna has reacted strongly to the widespread circulation of an audio recording purportedly of her mother Suman Mandanna. In a statement posted on social media, she asked how low people can go. She has been hounded in various ways for the past eight years. She remained silent all those years. But the current developments have crossed all limits. So she cannot remain silent any longer. Asked whether others should decide how her private life should be, Rashmika also said that she will take action against fake news.

To my beloved ones who have been with me on this beautiful journey so far, and to others related to this matter,

It has been 8 years since a section of the media and online started spreading false propaganda, hounding and systematic attacks against me. I have had to watch my words being taken out of context, things I didn’t say being misrepresented, and hate being spread just for the sake of viewers and reach.

I have patiently remained silent even though it has hurt me so much. I have believed that as someone in the public eye, unnecessary criticism is natural and that if I am always honest with myself and happy, things will be okay. But what has happened in the past 24 hours has crossed all boundaries and cannot be ignored.

A private conversation, supposedly from eight years ago, has been recorded and circulated without the knowledge or consent of those involved. In line with the recent changes in my personal life, only a small part of that conversation is being deliberately taken out of context and circulated. This is to create another controversy.

How low can people go? In doing so, they have unnecessarily dragged my family and people I am friends with who have nothing to do with this matter. This is a serious violation of privacy.

It is unfortunate that some people try to create hatred and controversy by destroying the dignity and peace of others while we are moving forward in life, growing and doing good things. For eight years, I kept silent when these attacks were only directed at me. But today, when others are being dragged into this, I cannot remain silent. I have decided to set a limit to this. I ask all media outlets, influencers and individuals who are spreading these images or news to remove them immediately. This statement gives you 24 hours to do so.

If this is not followed, legal action will be taken against the individuals, digital platforms and media outlets spreading such defamatory content from tomorrow. This is not a decision taken happily, but it has become inevitable now. So many people have supported me with love so far. I express my heartfelt gratitude to all of them.
