Mumbai: After veteran screenwriter Salim Khan was admitted to the ICU of Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital following a sudden medical emergency, Dr Jalil Parkar, who is treating him on Wednesday in a health bulletin said that he is currently on ventilator after he suffered a minimal brain haemorrhage.
While speaking to the media, Dr Jalil Parkar on Wednesday said that, "There was minimal brain haemorrhage. A procedure called DSA was done today morning. No surgery was required. He is still on ventilator. By tomorrow hopefully, he will be off ventilator. Keeping in mind the age, the time of recovery is more."
Talking about the health problems when he was admitted, Dr Jalil Parkar (Pulmonologist) said, “Yesterday morning he (Salim Khan) was admitted to the Lilavati Hospital. He was brought in by his family physician, whose name is Dr Sandeep Chopra.”
Sharing about the details regarding Salim was admitted to ICU, Dr Jalil Parkar said that, “After seeing him in the casualty and giving him some medication, we realised that he needed ICU hospitalisation and we took him to the ICU. He was having jerks, and his blood pressure was high, for which we treated him and we had to put him on the ventilator because we wanted to do certain investigations. Now, the ventilator that was put was as a safeguard, so that he doesn’t worsen. So it was not that he was critical as you all have said on various channels.”
Dr Jalil Parkar, during the health update said that “Salim Khan's health condition was never ‘as critical’ as it was widely reported by many publications.”
Later on Tuesday evening, doctors treating Salim Khan said that he was stable and under observation.
The bulletin issued by the hospital in the Tuesday evening, read, “Respecting the relatives’ request, further details ain’t being shared today. However, tomorrow at 11 am we shall be addressing a press bulletin with due consent of the relatives and maintaining the confidentiality of the patient to the utmost. Kindly bear with us. He is stable but is under close observation in regards to his clinical status.”
Salim Khan was reportedly hospitalized after he felt “giddy” and experienced a sharp spike in blood pressure.
The legendary writer was on Tuesday morning rushed to Mumbai’s Lilavati hospital and later in the evening, doctors treating him said that Salim Khan was stable and under observation.
